Medical Billing and Coding Program in Downtown LA

Offered at 加州大学洛杉矶分校 Downtown, the Medical Billing and Coding Program is an 80-hour billing and coding test preparatory program that offers the skills needed to resolve insurance billing problems, manually file claims (using the CPT and ICD-10 manual), complete common insurance forms, trace delinquent claims, appeal denied claims and use generic forms to streamline billing procedures.

The Medical Billing and Coding Program is for:

  • 学生 interested in keeping records, calculating patient charges, and reviewing files.
  • Individuals who are interested in being Medical Coders that determine codes for physician procedures and diagnosis using ICD-10 and CPT-4 coding protocols for third-party billing purposes.
  • 学生 with a high school diploma or GED equivalent.

After obtaining practical work experience (six months to two years), students who complete the Medical Billing and Coding Program may be qualified to sit for the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) – Certified Professional Coder Exam (CPC or CPC-H Apprentice); the American Health Information Association (AHIMA) Certified Coding Associate (CCA) exam; or other National Certification Exams.

Participants will receive a Certificate of Completion upon successful completion of the program.

The program instructor is a Certified Professional Coder in the field and is familiar with the requirements of the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC)-Certified Professional Coder Exam (CPC or CPC-H Apprentice); the American Health Information Association (AHIMA) – Certified Coding Associate (CCA) exam.

The Medical Billing and Coding Program cost is $2,650 (including all electronic program materials).

This program is presented in partnership with a third-party provider and is not taught by 加州大学洛杉矶分校 faculty nor affiliated with a campus academic department. Courses offered by third-party providers are not degree-eligible. 

This accelerated program is not accredited and does not include the certification exam.
